Traditionally, portraiture has placed the figure in the foreground with the explanatory information occupying the background. I intentionally reverse those positions in the picture plane by placing the figure within the background. In doing so, I intend to use the information in the forground to describe the subject. Usually portraiture has captured frozen moments in time with specific intent, whereas i aim to capture unintentional moments in which i find the subtle beauty. My work is an exploration of exact private and personal moments that usually pass unnoticed and unrecorded. My intent is to document and freeze those moments of forgotten time.
